  • noun. A spurious genus of hydrozoans, of the family Diphyidæ; a group of individuals, consisting of a nutritive polyp with nematocysts, gonophores, and usually a hydrophyllium, separated from any diphyid, as a species of Diphyes and of Abyla. The term is retained as the name of such objects.
